Laura Mäkelä

Ministerial Advisor, Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland

Laura Mäkelä (MSc (Econ)) is working as a Ministerial Advisor at the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland. She has worked professionally in the field of cultural policy for over 20 years and is currently responsible for audiovisual policy at the ministry. She has worked extensively to harness policies on creative economy, cultural diversity as well as cultural heritage. She has been representing Finland on numerous committees and working groups at the EU, Council of Europe, UNESCO, and Nordic Council of Ministers. She was chairing the AV working group of the Council of the European Union during the Finnish presidency in 2019.
