Michel Sabbagh

Director General of Broadcasting, Copyright, and Creative Marketplace, Department of Canadian Heritage, Canada

Michel Sabbagh is the Director General, Broadcasting, Copyright, and Creative Marketplace Branch at Canadian Heritage (PCH). Prior to joining PCH, he held a number of positions at Industry Canada and the Competition Bureau. Michel has a wealth of experience and expertise in areas such as international trade and copyright. Some of his key accomplishments include: leading Canada’s Creative Export Strategy; securing the cultural exemption in two major trade agreements: the Canada-US-Mexico Agreement and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Transpacific Partnership; and more recently in the context of COVID-19, taking a leadership role across PCH to design and implement a large-scale recipient survey for the Emergency Support Fund for Culture, Heritage and Sport. Michel holds a Masters of Science in Administration, specialized in Applied Economics, from HEC Montréal.
